QUIET MOMENT



God calls us to believe and repent. When we believe and repent, we receive the person of the Holy Spirit. He will be our comforter and guide as we seek to follow after Christ. If we are following in faithfulness and a true posture of repentance, we will continue to grow spiritually. Are you growing? As we follow in obedience, sensitively responding to the Holy Spirit, we will experience His blessing, His presence, and His power.



GOING DEEPER



Jesus set forth an example to follow. Even if you are a Christian and have been baptized, it's a great reminder to review the  following steps that take us along the path of faith the Lord has laid out for us.



Step One: Believe in Jesus and Repent of Sin



The Bible tells us we are to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved (Acts 16:31). Repentance means that you confess you are a sinner and that you agree with God that what you are doing is wrong. Jesus took the punishment for your sins. Receive the forgiveness God offers to you because of Jesus’ death on the cross. Have you confessed your sin and received Jesus? Are you living a life of continual repentance?



Step Two: Be Baptized



In the book of Acts, Philip had just shared the gospel with an Ethiopian eunuch. The Ethiopian believed, was saved, and was immediately baptized (Acts 8:36). Have you allowed anything to prevent you from being baptized?



Step Three: Walk Forward with Faith in Him



Galatians 3:27 tells us, “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ” (NIV). So let us walk forward, clothed in Christ. We are no longer alone, so we do not have to depend on our own strength to walk in the footsteps of our shepherd. We have His very presence and power within us.



REFLECTION AND PRAYER



Begin your time in prayer by crying out that He would help you leave “home” and head to the shore of the Jordan, step down into its waters, and be submerged into Him and Him alone. Ask Him to show you where you’ve been disobedient or slow to respond.
