Chapter 13

Jesus tells about the concerning signs of the end of the ages. The gospel must first be preached to all nations. During the end times, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give light, and stars will fall from the sky. Angels will be sent out to gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. Jesus tells them "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away."

Chapter 1

Jesus' Passover Supper (The Lord's Supper) in Jerusalem. In Gethsemane, Jesus asked God to "Take this cup from Me." In the morning, Judas greeted Jesus, and an armed crowd take Jesus to meet the Sanhedrin. The high priest asks Jesus if he is the Messiah. When He reveals He is, they vote for the death sentence. Peter denies knowing Jesus three times before the rooster crowed the second time that morning. Jesus was carried to Pilate, the Roman governor, and is questioned.

Chapter 15

The Crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus' cross was carried by Simon to Golgotha. Jesus is offered wine drugged with myrrh, which He refused. The crucifixion takes place at "the third hour," with a written notice of His charge, reading "THE KING OF THE JEWS." Two robbers were crucified, with crosses on either side of His cross. Darkness occurred for three hours, at which point Jesus said "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Then Jesus breathed His last breath. The curtain in the Temple tore in two signifying access to God now by man. Joseph asked Pilate for Jesus' body, taken it down from the cross, puts it in a long linen cloth. He laid His body in a tomb cut out of rock and rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

Chapter 16

The next evening, Mary Magdalene, another Mary, and Salome bought spices to "anoint" the body of Jesus. The following morning, they went to the tomb and saw a young man in a white robe (angel of the Lord), who tell them that Jesus was not there, that He had "risen" and was going to Galilee. Mary Magdalene saw Him that Sunday morning, and she told His disciples, who did not believe her. Jesus appears to the eleven remaining disciples and tells them to go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Jesus is taken up into heaven and He sits at the right hand of God.
