Sharing Jesus

DAY 3 OF 3

How do we share Jesus to others? By becoming all things to all people without compromising God’s law. Or, as the New Living Translation says, “finding common ground with everyone.” This doesn’t mean being fake—it simply means meeting people where they are, and that takes some practice.

Paul is basically an all-things-to-all-people professional. He shows us how we can find common ground and open the door for conversation. Here are 5 ways we see him doing this and how we can mimic it in our lives:

  1. He adjusted his approach to people, not the message of Jesus. For us, that could look like trying to connect with someone’s story or history.
  2. He met people where they were—He was a pursuer! That means we should pursue others: sending a text, saying “hi” first, or asking to meet up.
  3. He gave up his personal preferences for the sake of others. Maybe you don’t like early morning meetups, but that’s when they’re available! Sharing Jesus means putting ourselves aside to show His love.
  4. He built genuine connection and mutual understanding before trying to influence. Ask open-ended questions and understand who they are and what they believe before you share what you believe about Jesus.
  5. He stayed connected to Jesus above all. If we start sharing our faith for our own glory, we’ll end up pointing people to us instead of Him. Reading the Bible, praying, and church engagement are critical to our faith as we share it with others.

There is so much joy in sharing Jesus! Choose someone today who is close to you but far from Jesus and begin to pursue them like Paul did.
