DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2 — Growth Takes Time: Planting the Seed

Key verse:

26 And he said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground.
27 He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how.
28 The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.
29 But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”- Mark 4:26-29

Yesterday, we saw that potential is like a seed—designed to grow. But growth does not happen instantly.

Growth requires a process. And a process requires time.

We live in a world shaped by instant gratification. When something takes too long, we assume something is wrong. We are trained to believe that speed equals success. But in the Kingdom, this is not true.

The process is not the problem. The problem is our perspective of the process.

For a seed to grow, it requires time, intentionality, and care. You cannot rush what God is forming.

Joseph’s life illustrates this clearly. He carried a dream from God, yet his journey took him from family, to pit, to slavery, to prison. At any point, he could have given up—believing the process was too long or too difficult. He could have allowed his circumstances to shape his identity.

But he didn’t.

Many of us think: “If I could just be seen by the right person, I would step into my purpose.” Some even feel forgotten by God.

But the truth is this: you don’t need to be discovered by people—you are already seen and known by God.

God has not forgotten His promises. He has not abandoned you in the process.

Genesis 39:2 says, “The Lord was with Joseph…”

Even when the story looked like it was going backwards, God was present.

The same is true for you.

We are often trained to focus on outcomes, not formation. We admire the final product, but we overlook the process that produced it.

In my own life, one of the most frustrating seasons was working as a waiter. I wanted to quit often. But in that process, I learned discipline, resilience, and how to handle pressure. What felt like delay was actually development.

The process does not always feel rewarding—but it is always forming something.

Your focus should not be on the process or even the outcome—but on Jesus. He is present in the seed, the process, and the result.

You will not always see the full picture early on. It takes time to walk with God and understand what He is building.

Stay faithful. Stay focused.

Because you become what you behold.

Reflection/Activation

Where have I defined myself mainly by what I do, instead of who God says I am?
What “good works” might God already have prepared for me in this season?
What is one area I need to surrender more fully to God so my potential can grow?
What am I beholding and becoming in the process?
Where do I need to trust God in the process?

Prayer:

Father, thank You that my life is not accidental. Thank You that You created me with intention and prepared good works for me to walk in. Thank You that You are with me in the process, even when I do not see the full picture. Forgive me for impatience and for believing that delay means denial. Renew my mind when I grow frustrated with time. Teach me to trust You in hidden seasons. Help me to focus on Jesus instead of outcomes. Shape my character in the waiting. Develop discipline, humility, and endurance inside of me. I surrender my potential to You—shape it, refine it, and release it for Your glory. Guide my focus and steps in the process. In Jesus’ name, amen.

About this Plan

Potential | Metamorpho

During this five-day devotion about potential, we want you to recognize the greatness that lies within them and to grasp the vastness of what they are capable of becoming. You need to rediscover your ability to dream — to envision a future filled with purpose and possibility — and to believe once again that you are empowered to dream boldly and pursue those dreams with confidence.
