Everywhere I Go: Learning to See Jesus

DAY 240 OF 363

HE'S ALIVE! Easter is the season when we usually think of the resurrection, but the fact of Jesus' victory over death applies to every day, every season, every moment of our lives. The truth that Jesus Christ died, was raised from the dead, and lives forever is not just destiny-changingラit's life-changing. Because of His resurrection, we too live, and shall live forever. Because of His resurrection, the horror of death loses its sting. When our oldest granddaughter LeeBeth was three, she watched a Christmas drama that brought her face to face with the death of Jesus for perhaps the first time. As they began to drive the nails in his hands and feet, her little body would jump with every blow of the hammer. "They're hammering Jesus," she would say. "They're hammering Jesus." All through the rest of the day she said it over and over againラshe couldn't get it out of her mind. She told her mother, "Momma, they hammered Jesus. Momma, they hammered Jesus. They hammered Jesus." Lisa would say, "I know, LeeBeth. But the good news isラHe's still alive." She was still stung by the picture of His death. "Yes, but they hammered Him. They hammered Jesus." Lisa would patiently say, "They did, LeeBeth, but He's alive." That night when her Daddy came in to hear her bedtime prayers, she said, "Daddy, did you know they hammered Jesus?" He said, "I know, LeeBeth." Then she thought for a moment and said, "But Daddyラthe good news is, He's still alive." He is. And it makes all the difference in the world.

About this Plan

Everywhere I Go: Learning to See Jesus

You may begin this devotional at any point during the year. Each devotional is designed to focus your mind and heart on a single concept. Read the title, then read through the devotional section with an open heart. Go to your Bible again and read the suggested scripture passage, asking yourself, "Is there a command to obey, a sin to avoid, an example to follow or a promise to claim?"
