Seek First 365: A One Year Bible Reading Plan for Daily Devotion

DAY 51 OF 365

Reflection:

  • In verses 2-4, why does James instruct us to respond to the challenges in our lives with joy?
  • In verses 5-8, how should we ask God for wisdom, and what can we expect when we do so?
  • In verses 9-11, what significance does wealth have in light of eternity, and how does this contrast with the significance of faith’s ability to persevere in verse 12?
  • In verses 13-18, what doesn’t come from God, and what does? How does this shape our understanding of God’s character and His intentions for us?

Pray and Apply:

What is the greatest challenge you are facing right now? How have you responded to this challenge? Are you afraid? Frustrated? Anxious? Doubtful? Ask God for wisdom, standing on the promise given to you in James 1:5-8. Thank God for the opportunity for your character to further develop during this challenge. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you joy in response to your current trial, then reflect on James 1:16-18. Thank God for every good and perfect gift He has already given you, and for the gifts yet to come!

About this Plan

Seek First 365: A One Year Bible Reading Plan for Daily Devotion

Seek First 365 is a one-year Bible reading plan designed to help you build a daily rhythm of reading Scripture, meditating on God’s Word, praying, and journaling. Instead of rushing through several chapters each day, Seek First 365 invites you to slow down and focus on a single passage—or even part of a chapter. The goal isn’t speed, but transformation. Each day is crafted to help you linger in God’s Word, listen to the Spirit, and let His truth shape your heart, mind, and life.
