Mom in the Word: One-Year Bible Plan (Volume 1)Sample

Week 11 (Day 53)
Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 1–2
Devotional Focus: Learning from the Past, Trusting God for the Future
As we enter the book of Deuteronomy, Moses begins a heartfelt recap of the Israelites’ journey. He reminds them of their past mistakes, how they refused to trust God at Kadesh Barnea, and how that disobedience led to wandering in the wilderness for 40 years.
But this retelling is not just a history lesson—it’s a call to remember, reflect, and move forward with renewed faith.
As moms, we carry both the weight of our past experiences and the hope for what lies ahead. Sometimes we dwell on the missteps, wishing we had done things differently. But like Moses, God invites us to learn from the past, not live in it. He wants us to teach our children the lessons we’ve learned so they can walk forward in wisdom and faith.
God’s mercy is evident throughout these chapters—He continues to guide, provide, and lead His people despite their failings. It’s a comforting reminder that our past doesn’t disqualify us from walking in God’s promises.
Reflection:
✨ What lessons from your past has God used to shape your journey of faith?
✨ Are there areas where you still feel stuck in a wilderness mindset?
✨ How can you help your children learn from your experiences and trust God with their own future?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being patient with me, even when I’ve made mistakes. Help me to learn from the past without being trapped in it. Give me grace to move forward with trust, and wisdom to guide my children in faith. Thank You for never giving up on me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
💛 Your past is a teacher, not a prison. Let God use it to grow your faith and lead your family into His promises.
