Identity

DAY 23 OF 28

Main Idea: God is Holy

God has lots of different attributes, some of which we can’t have as well. For instance, God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present. As much as we might like to have some of those–maybe you’d like to take over the world and think they’d be a good help–those are not ones that God expects or wants us to have. We aren’t called to try and imitate Him in this way. They are what make Him uniquely God, and we can’t become God.

However, when it comes to God’s character, that is something we are absolutely supposed to try and imitate. He is a God of love, goodness, truth, kindness, justice, mercy, and patience, to name just a few. These attributes are ones that we are supposed to share, and even things God expects us to have. We are supposed to imitate Him in this way.

They are what make Him a good God, and though we can’t be God, we can be good. All these are supposed to be reflected in the lives of those who follow Him.

Reflection Questions:

  • Are there areas where you’ve tried to take on qualities that belong only to God, and how might focusing on His character instead change that?
  • How can you practically reflect God’s goodness and character to the people around you this week?

About this Plan
