Love Versus LustSample

Signs of Real Love
So how can you tell the difference between love and lust? The Bible gives us clear indicators. Love is patient. Lust is hasty. Amnon couldn’t wait; he acted on impulse. Jacob, on the other hand, waited years and never compromised his integrity. True love is never in a hurry; it builds, it prays, it respects.
Love rejoices in truth. Lust hides in secrecy and deceit. If someone wants to keep you away from God, isolate you from friends and family, or pressure you into sin, that’s not love; it’s manipulation.
Love is selfless. Lust is selfish. Genuine love seeks your growth, peace, and purity, not personal gratification. Anyone who truly loves you will protect your heart, not exploit it.
Finally, love involves God. When God is left out of the relationship, everything else crumbles. Real love honours Him in every choice, every conversation, and every boundary.
Reflection Question: Which of these differences between love and lust speaks to you the most, and why?
About this Plan

We all long to love and be loved, but in a world where emotions often masquerade as love, it’s easy to mistake lust or infatuation for the real thing. The Bible teaches that true love is patient, pure, and selfless, while lust is impulsive and destructive. This 3-day plan will help you discern the difference, learn to guard your heart, wait for God’s best, and build relationships rooted in purity and purpose. Whether single, dating, or married, you’ll be challenged to love the right way, the way God loves.
