The second key truth of the gospel is clear, but unpopular: everyone is born a sinner.

Sin is anything I think, say, or do that breaks God’s law. It literally means to miss the mark, like missing the target in a game, only this mark represents perfection. Romans 3:23 reminds us that everyone has sinned, falling short of God’s glory. Romans 5:12 tells us why. Through one man, Adam, sin entered the world and death because of sin. Since then, every person is born with an innate desire to do wrong.

Knowing this truth can fill Christians with a deep sense of gratitude toward the Lord for His forgiveness and strengthen our desire to share the gospel with others.
