Back to the Basics 365

DAY 256 OF 365

Why were so many New Testament letters written to churches?

In 1 Corinthians 1:2, Paul shows us that God gave His Word directly to local churches to guide and strengthen them.

Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, and 1 and 2 Thessalonians were all written to real believers in real cities. These letters were meant for people just like us, facing trials, temptations, and questions of faith.

It’s a reminder that God works through the local church to preserve and apply His Word. The Bible was written with the church in mind, to teach us how to live out the Christian faith together.

God’s Word to the early churches is still God’s Word for our churches today.
