Overcoming Anxiety and Worry

We are all prone to anxiety and worry, and simply telling ourselves not to worry won’t make it go away, it may even make it worse. But Scripture gives us something powerful to do with our worries: trust God and hand them over to Him.

Imagine carrying a heavy load on your back. Wishing it away won’t help, but if someone stronger offered to carry it, wouldn’t you let them? God wants to be that strength for you. He knows the weight you carry, and He loves you enough to help you lift it.

When anxious thoughts come, renew your mind with the Word (Romans 12:2). Think about the goodness and power of God. Replace worry with worship. As Philippians 4:6–8 teaches, when we pray with thanksgiving, His peace guards our hearts and minds.

Reflection Questions:

  • How does anxiety affect my daily life?
  • Have I asked for help, from God, Scripture, or trusted friends?
  • How has God shown His faithfulness before?

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You today with burdens too heavy for me to carry. I need Your help to release them into Your hands. Remind me that Your ways are higher and Your thoughts greater. Help me rely on Your promises and rest in Your peace. Amen.
