Limiting God

God is almighty and does not need us to accomplish anything. But He created us and chose to partner with us. He designed it so that He has to work through people to build His Kingdom. That means we must give Him room to move through us.

If we don’t open our hearts to Him or don’t believe in what He can do, how can His power work through us?

In that sense, we can limit God.

We limit God when we do not believe Him or forget His works.

Psalm 78:41 (NKJV) says:

“Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.”

Israel forgot God’s mighty works and stopped trusting Him, and that limited His work among them.

Psalm 103:1–2 (NKJV) says:

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

When we remember God’s works, our faith grows. Seeing what He has done in our lives and that of others strengthens our trust in Him. That produces steadfast faith.

Don’t forget what God has done. Forgetting limits God in your life because your trust fades and your faith becomes small. But when you activate your faith and remember His faithfulness, God can work powerfully through you.

Prayer:

Father, I don’t want to limit You through unbelief or forgetfulness. Help me never lose sight of Your faithfulness. Remind me daily of Your goodness and strengthen my faith so You can work freely through me. Amen.
