The Hospitable Heart

DAY 4 OF 5

THAT 'LITTLE' COULD BE JUST FINE

As humans, we often underestimate anything we consider “little”. In our natural reasoning, little usually counts as nothing. Yet Scripture consistently shows that God delights in using the little to accomplish the impossible. Consider the widow of Zarephath, who had only a little flour and oil — but that “little” became the source of an unending blessing (1 Kings 17:8–16). Or think of the widow’s mites in Luke 21:1–4; a seemingly insignificant offering that caught heaven’s attention. I strongly believe she received a divine visitation afterward.

In John 6:9, Andrew pointed out the young boy who had just a small lunch to offer. He saw the inadequacy of the little compared to the massive crowd before them. But the miracle began with the boy’s willingness to surrender what he had. His innocent, cheerful generosity opened the door for divine multiplication. If that boy had been pressured, coerced, or intimidated into giving, the story may have been very different. God responds to the sincerity of a willing heart. He needs you to believe in your “little,” because He can use it to save many.

The enemy often plants the lie that your little is useless, hoping to rob you of the blessing that would have come if you released it with faith. What if, after everyone had eaten, those twelve baskets of leftovers were returned to the boy who gave his lunch? It is entirely possible. God is not unjust.

Not every situation calls for you to despise your little. Sometimes, that little is exactly what God needs to reveal His glory. Stay sensitive to the Spirit, because THAT 'LITTLE' COULD BE JUST FINE.
