God Who Speaks and Guides
The Wise Men were seekers. They were scholars, court advisors, and skilled scientists of their day. They studied the stars and searched for truth. They were spiritual, ethical, even moral—yet they knew something was missing. They were searching for someone more noble and wise than themselves. They were looking for a King.
Sound familiar? So many people today are exactly like the Wise Men. They’re seeking truth, searching for meaning, looking for something more. They sense there’s a God-shaped hole inside them that nothing else can fill. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God “has put eternity in their hearts.” Every human heart is on a desperate search to fill the emptiness only God can satisfy.
God supernaturally used a star to lead the Wise Men to Jesus. He gave them a sign, a guide, something to follow. And here’s what’s beautiful: God still does this today. As we move toward Christ and our destiny in Him, God gives us unexpected signs along the way to let us know we’re on the right path.
God can speak through creation—maybe you’re in the mountains and their majesty overwhelms you. He can speak through circumstances—a series of events that seem too perfectly timed to be coincidence. He can speak through relationships—a friend who says exactly what you needed to hear.
Ultimately, God’s intent is to lead you to Him and grow you through His Word. The Jewish scribes communicated to Herod where Christ would be born by quoting Scripture. The Bible is God’s clearest voice, His most reliable guide. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
If you’re seeking truth, start with Scripture. Read the Gospel of John. Ask God to speak to you through His Word. C.S. Lewis set out to disprove Christianity by reading the Bible, and he ended up encountering Jesus personally. The Bible is alive, it’s God’s voice to you.
If the Wise Men could find Jesus by following a star through cultural barriers, language barriers, racial barriers, and traveling a thousand miles, you can find Him too. He’s not hiding from you. He’s pursuing you. He’s giving you signs all around. Follow them today!
Pray
Lord, thank You that You speak and guide those who seek You. Open my eyes to see the signs You’re giving me. Open my heart to Your Word. I’m seeking You today, please show me the way to go. Amen.
