DAY 5 OF 7

Song of Confidence

Hopefully, we will never face human opposition and war like the psalmist David did, which led him to express the plea to God found in Psalm 27. Throughout his life, David faced many opponents who sought to literally take his life. The giant Goliath threatened to “give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals.” Multiple times, Saul, the king of Israel and father of David’s best friend, tried to kill him. Saul even pursued him with an entire army. Later, when David was king, even his own son, Absalom, sought to kill him and take the throne for himself.

David knew what it was to be in danger. But even in the midst of all this, David was confident in God. He trusted God would keep him safe. Though we may not face this type of outward persecution, we do have an enemy. The apostle Peter tells us that our enemy seeks to devour us. This may not be physical, though there are certainly those around the world for whom this is a reality. But the enemy is just as content if he can get us to doubt, fear, wander, or give up.

It is so easy to believe the lies of the enemy that we are not capable. Especially when we find ourselves trying to do it in our own strength. As seen in 2 Corinthians 3, we are not called to self-confidence; we are called to God's confidence. We can do all things in Christ. So what do you find yourself being anxious over? It could be sharing your faith with a friend. Stepping up and saying something when you see an injustice. Or it might even be finding your confidence when performing a song like “Song of Confidence.” Just remember: God is capable. We don’t have to rely on our own wisdom, skill, or strength. And we have a Father who loves us beyond our comprehension, and who is more than worthy of our confidence.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to trust in your strength, not mine. I will be still and listen for your guidance and wisdom, rather than running headfirst into my plans. Give me courage when I am timid. I lay my fear and anxiety before you. Lift me to walk confidently on the path you call me to. To you be all the glory, honour, and power! Amen.

About this Plan

Party

We often view God’s word as a stuffy user’s manual for life. But throughout the Bible, we find we have so many reasons to celebrate. Take a seven-day journey with us and experience the joy that comes from walking with Jesus. This plan flows out of Engedi Music’s album, “Party.” Let’s lift, and be lifted by, the one who is truly worthy of our celebration.
