Thankfulness - Anna's Story

Like Simeon in yesterday's reading, we’re introduced to another character who embodies longstanding faithfulness. Both Simeon and Anna have long waited for the redemption of their nation and the salvation of His people. It was a hunger and desire many of God’s people felt.

Simeon was moved by the Holy Spirit to come to the temple that day. Anna was already there, as she was every day, praying, fasting, praising God. God called one to behold this magnificent moment in time, and one lived a life that positioned her to not miss it.

When we regularly set aside time with God, we create space for God to move in our lives, to speak to us, to reveal and pour out the good things He has for us. You can see your morning devotions as just routine, or you can see them as positioning yourself to hear from God, encounter His presence, and be thankful for all He has done.

What God revealed to Anna was soon to be revealed to the world, and her thanksgiving to God echoes to this very day. Today, tomorrow, and every day, let's continue to create space to thank God for the gift He has given us.
