21 Days Prayer & Fasting "Align in Promise"Sample

PLEASING THE HEART OF GOD
In Sunday School, I once asked the children, “Why did God accept Abel’s offering but not Cain’s?” One of them answered, “Because God likes meat more!” We all laughed, but the question remains important: why? Was it because Cain didn’t bring the firstfruits? Or because the amount wasn’t enough?
This story isn’t about the type of offering, but about the attitude of the heart behind it. Abel offered what pleased the heart of God, while Cain offered what pleased himself. True worship is never measured by our standards, but by God’s.
Imagine someone giving their beloved a birthday gift — the most expensive chocolate in the world. But if that person is allergic to chocolate, would the gift bring joy? Of course not. True love is expressed in a way that can be received by the one who is loved.
The same is true of our relationship with God. Cain tried to relate to God on his own terms, while Abel offered what was pleasing in God’s eyes. Their difference lies between living for one’s own comfort and living to please the heart of God.
A relationship with God is not about giving what we think is best, but about giving what He desires. True worship happens when our hearts and lives are aligned with His will — not to please ourselves, but to please Him.
True worship is not about giving what I want, but giving what God desires.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
● In what areas do I tend to do things my own way rather than God’s way?
● Do I truly know what pleases God’s heart, or am I just guessing based on my own desires?
● How can I learn to be more sensitive and obedient so that every action and decision truly pleases Him?
PRAYER POINTS
● Give thanks that God desires to be known and invites us into a relationship with Him.
● Pray for a sensitive heart to know what pleases the heart of God.
● Ask for strength to live in obedience and to offer the best according to His will, not our own.
