Simply Amazing!

As we inch closer to the end of Job, the Lord continues His speech to Job. The Leviathan is given 3x as much space as the Behemoth, with much more detail about its temperament and habits. Most interpreters see the crocodile here, although after the discovery of the Ugaritic literature with its mythological dragon called Lotan, some assume that this is a dragon (see Ugaritic Texts by R. Andrew Compton, professor of OT studies at Mid-America Reformed Seminary and Assoc. Pastor of Redeemer United Reformed Church in Dyer, IN).

The overall message is that the Leviathan is God’s creation. It is under His control. Job has no authority in this sphere, for he too is a creature made by God to be submissive to His reign. May we humbly bow before Him today with a new perspective.

Revelation informs us that in the future the temple is no longer necessary because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb constitute it. The whole city is holy and pervaded by the presence of God! There is no need for light for the glory of God is the light. Awesome! There will be no need to close the gates for any reason - this is hard for us to imagine! We will actually get to regain access to the tree of life, which brings permanent healing. Our intimacy will be new - we will see His face and His name will be on our foreheads (an indication of ownership). What a day that will be! Amen. Come Lord Jesus! This is what is waiting for us in the forever family!
