God's Blueprint for ExcellenceSample

Day 11
Celebrate Others’ Successes
Ancient law 10 – “You shall not covet.”
Here’s a lesson I’ve learned over years of flying planes and counseling families: coveting what others have steals your joy, but celebrating their wins sets you free. I used to feel a twinge of envy when a fancier jet taxied by my plane, but I’ve learned that gratitude, not comparison, brings peace. Romans 12:15 calls us to rejoice with others, and that’s a game-changer. When my wife and I decided to answer, “How much is enough?” and give beyond that, we found contentment in celebrating others’ successes, from a friend’s business win to my son’s trophy bass.
Excellence isn’t about outdoing others; it’s about running your race with purpose. Whether it’s cheering a colleague’s promotion or starting a family tradition like gathering around our lake house firepit, celebrating others deepens our connections and fuels our joy. Think of someone who’s achieved something great—a coworker, a neighbor, or a kid. Today, tell them you’re proud of them. Watch how it shifts your perspective from envy to gratitude, drawing you closer to your own purpose.
Action Step
Reach out to someone today—a friend, family member, or colleague—and celebrate a specific achievement of theirs with a heartfelt word or note. Write down how this act of gratitude makes you feel more content.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the blessings in my life and the successes of others. Help me replace envy with celebration, finding contentment in my unique journey. Guide me to build traditions that honor others and reflect Your love, keeping my heart focused on what matters. Amen.
