Filled Daily

Devotion: "Be filled" isn't a one-time event. In Greek, it's the present continuous tense—keep being filled, continuously, repeatedly, daily. Like your phone battery that needs daily charging, you need daily filling.

Paul contrasts drunkenness with Spirit-filling. Why? Both involve being controlled by something outside yourself. Alcohol controls your behavior, emotions, and judgment. So does the Holy Spirit—but He leads you to life, not destruction.

You received the Holy Spirit at salvation. That's settled. But being filled with the Spirit is an ongoing experience. Yesterday's filling doesn't carry you through today. You leak. Life drains you. Sin grieves the Spirit. You need fresh filling.

How do you get filled? It's simpler than you think. Surrender. Confess any known sin. Ask. The same Jesus who said "receive the Holy Spirit" also said, "How much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him" (Luke 11:13).

Being filled isn't about emotional hype or special experiences. It's about yielding control. When the Spirit fills you, He controls your words, thoughts, actions, and attitudes. You think differently. React differently. Love differently.

Don't start today running on yesterday's fumes. Get filled. Right now. Ask Him. Surrender everything. Let Him take control.

Declaration: "I am being filled with the Holy Spirit today. I surrender control. He leads, I follow. He empowers, I obey. I am under His influence, not my flesh."

Prayer: "Holy Spirit, fill me fresh today. I confess where I've grieved You or quenched Your voice. Take control of my words, thoughts, and actions. I don't want to live on my own strength. Fill me to overflowing. In Jesus' name, amen."
