Living Thankful, Living SoberSample

We’re forgetful. It’s easy to get so caught up in today’s struggles or tomorrow’s worries that we forget yesterday’s blessings. When the bills pile up, when the diagnosis comes, when relationships feel strained, our minds can quickly shift to fear and doubt. But gratitude grows when we stop and remember what God has already done.
That’s why God often reminded His people to look back. In Deuteronomy, Moses told Israel to “remember” how God led them through the wilderness, fed them with manna, and never let their clothes wear out. And in Joshua 4, the twelve stones from the Jordan River were set up as a visible reminder that the God who parted the waters once would be faithful again.
When we take time to reflect on God’s faithfulness, we can face today’s challenges with a different perspective. Gratitude shifts our hearts from “Will God show up?” to “Of course He will; He always has.” And that kind of faith leads us into deeper peace and joy.
Reflection Question: Think about a time that God gave you something you needed. Maybe He provided food for your family or a job so that you could pay the bills. Maybe He gave you a friend during a challenging time or a roof over your head. Or, maybe He gave you a small moment of joy, something to put a smile on your face.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for Your faithfulness in my life. I am grateful for all that You have done and will do.
