One House : 1 PeterSample

Salvation Foretold
Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.
1 Peter 1:10–12 ESV
It has often been said that the New Testament is concealed in the Old, and the Old Testament is revealed in the New. For Peter, this meant that the salvation we now experience as believers was concealed in the Old Testament era, only to be understood by those who searched carefully. To those prophets, it was revealed that the good news of the coming kingdom was not for their time but for ours. Peter says that their lives were not in service to themselves but to us.
The New was concealed in the Old, but now the Old has been fully revealed in the New. In fact, what has been revealed in the New Testament age is so much greater than what the Old Testament prophets anticipated that even the angels are filled with a holy curiosity as they witness God's salvation unfold. This is Peter's point: if the angels are in awe of our salvation, then what a great gift we've received.

About this Plan

It's important for us to grow together. Let's look at Peter's first epistle, and walk through it slowly, thoughtfully, as we grow together!
