God With Us: Encountering the King This ChristmasSample

Day 2: The King of Kings
Kings and leaders have shaped history, some ruling with wisdom, others with selfish ambition. Nations have risen and fallen based on the strength of their rulers. Yet Scripture declares that our ultimate destiny rests not in earthly rulers but in the hands of Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Revelation 19:16 gives us a striking picture: “On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.” (ESV) Unlike the temporary reigns of worldly leaders, his authority is eternal. His kingdom will never end. His rule is marked by righteousness, justice, and love.
At times, our lives feel chaotic and uncertain. Political unrest, personal challenges, and the weight of daily responsibilities can leave us anxious and unsettled. But when we remember who sits on the throne, peace settles in our hearts. Jesus is not only the King of kings, but also the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Under his reign, our lives are secure.
Colossians 3:3 reminds us that our lives are hidden with Christ in God. That means our ultimate future does not depend on circumstances, achievements, or failures, but on the unshakable rule of our King. We can rest knowing that he has already overcome the world.
What does this mean for us today? It means that no matter what weighs on your heart, whether from financial stress, broken relationships, or fear of the future, you can lay those burdens at the feet of the King. He has both the power to carry them and the compassion to care for you.
Sometimes, we forget that we are not designed to rule our own lives. When we try to control everything, we end up weary and anxious. But when we submit to Jesus’ kingship, we discover the freedom of being led by the One who truly knows what is best for us.
This Christmas season, where are your eyes fixed? Are you looking to yourself, others, or circumstances for peace? Or are you fixing your gaze on Jesus, the King of kings, who reigns with perfect wisdom and steadfast love?
Choose today to rest in his authority. Allow his sovereignty to quiet your heart and remind you that your life is secure in him.
Prayer:
King Jesus, you are Lord of lords and King of kings. I trust your leadership over my life. Help me surrender my worries and walk in the peace of your rule today. In your holy name, Amen.
