The Prevailing Life

DAY 2 OF 6

The second step to living a prevailing life is to be blessed by God. In creation’s beginning, the very first thing God did for humanity was to bless them (Genesis 1:28).

Blessing is not an afterthought; it is God’s original intention. Without His blessing, life quickly becomes frustrating; but with His blessing, we are empowered to overcome and prevail.

When Peter confessed Christ’s identity, Jesus immediately declared, “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona” (Matthew 16:17). That blessing marked a turning point. Before Simon received a new name, he received a blessing. In God’s order, blessing precedes transformation. It is the blessing that empowers you to become who God has called you to be.

Jesus also revealed how to posture ourselves for blessing through the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3–6).

To be poor in spirit is to depend fully on God. To mourn is to receive His comfort in trials. To be meek is to choose humility over retaliation. To hunger and thirst for righteousness is to crave His ways above all else. These postures invite His blessing and unlock the prevailing life.

Prayer:

Oh Lord! Help me not to be full of myself or think I do not need You. Keep me poor in spirit, always dependent on You. Help me to stay attached to the Vine, meditating on Your Word day and night, as I wait upon Your salvation. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

About this Plan

The Prevailing Life

Life is full of battles, but God has called you to prevail. This 6-day plan, grounded in Matthew 16:16–19, will guide you through the keys God has given His children to walk in victory. To “prevail” means to prove more powerful than opposing forces, to triumph, and to overcome. Jesus declared that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church. That promise is for you too. Our prayer is that as you journey through this plan, the Holy Spirit will reveal truth, strengthen you, and empower you to live The Prevailing Life.
