30 Days of Praying for Children and FamiliesSample

Jesus asks us to “learn from [him]” - and make him our role model for rest.
When we look at his life, we see a man who encountered stressful situations and relationships, but lived at a perfect pace, not over-busying himself with things that were unimportant.
When Jesus did rest, he rested on his own with his Father (Luke 6:12), with his disciples, over a meal (John 12:2), and with friends, over a meal. (Mark 2:15-17)
We can learn that our rest needs to be spiritual, physical, and mental. Time out with God is an essential way that we should be resting. Spending time with loved ones, and away from our normal work, is essential mental rest, even if we're doing something active.
Rest is not easy – but then again, not many of God's commandments are. As carers of children, however, it is vital that we examine our patterns of work and rest and ensure that – for their sake and ours – we establish regular times when we can recharge. Rest is, after all, a gift from God.
Prayer
God of rest,
Thank you that you promise rest for our souls. True, ultimate rest.
I bring before you parents and carers who are weary of the challenges of life. Give them your rest.
I bring before you those who are burdened with debt, worry, or relentless demands. Give them your rest.
