Marriage Is God's Design: Inspired by the Movie 'Back to Eden'

DAY 7 OF 7

LARRY: (stands up to make a call) please excuse me.

MOJI: You are welcome back, my dear friend.

(Debby’s husband enters the space. Their son sees him and runs to his father.)

LARRY: This is your husband. He is still in the faith. He is still with the Master where you left him.

(Debby is surprised and ashamed. She stands up and approaches her husband, kneels before him, and begins to sob.)

MOJI: Over to you, brother. What do you have to say?

KENNY: Thank you. Thank you so much for your advice and prayers. I never divorced her. That’s why my faith in God remained strong—I believed He would bring her back, even though I didn’t know how. Welcome beck, my love.

(He pulls her up. Debby bursts into tears.)

DEBBY: I’m sorry. Please forgive me, dear.

KENNY: I have my faults—many of them the Holy Spirit has shown me. So, my dear, I refuse to blame you. I blame the accuser—the enemy who hates our union. He attacked us, and we were unprepared. I’m sorry for not taking care of you the way I should have.

Restoration of Eden

Consistent prayer is never wasted. Every moment spent seeking God is an investment in restoration. “Those who seek the Lord lack no good thing” (Psalm 34:10). We do not pursue Him in vain; we pursue Him with the confident expectation that He hears, answers, and redeems.

Moji’s story is proof. She refused to give up on God’s promises, and through persistent prayer and humble obedience, her home was restored. But the miracle did not end there — her obedience became a river that overflowed into Debby’s life, bringing healing to her friend’s marriage as well. This reveals a profound truth: your obedience to God carries weight beyond your own story. Whole destinies may be waiting on the other side of your “yes.” If Moji had ignored God’s voice through Pastor Olivia, Debby’s restoration might have been delayed. This is also a pointer that Kenny’s (Debby’s husband) prayer never wasted.

Restoration is God’s specialty. He is able to return your home to its original Eden design; a place where peace, purpose, and divine fellowship flourish once more. He silences the voice of the stranger, fortifies the broken walls that once left your family exposed, and breathes life into the dry places you thought were beyond repair.

Perhaps your marriage feels too chaotic, too broken, too far gone. Maybe trust has been shattered, or love feels cold and distant. Yet Scripture reminds us that even when a tree is cut down, “at the scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant” (Job 14:7–9). That “water” is the life-giving flow of God’s Spirit released through prayer, repentance, and obedience.

Even if you were the cause of the chaos — even if your choices led to separation or divorce — there is still hope. Return to your Maker with genuine repentance and a humble heart. He is the God who “gives beauty for ashes” and “restores the years the locusts have eaten” (Isaiah 61:3; Joel 2:25). He does not simply patch up what is broken; He makes all things new.

Your Eden can bloom again. The peace that once seemed lost can return. And your testimony of restoration might just become the spark that ignites healing in countless other homes.

Prayer:
Father, thank You because nothing is too broken for You to restore. I bring my home before You today — every wound, every wall that has fallen, every dream that feels dead — and I ask for Your healing touch. Breathe new life into the dry places, silence every voice that is not Yours, and rebuild our marriage according to Your original Eden design. Where there has been chaos, let Your peace reign; where there has been ashes, bring forth beauty. Teach me to walk in obedience and humility, knowing that my “yes” to You carries generational impact. Restore not only my home but also every life connected to my obedience. I trust You to make all things new, and I receive Your restoration by faith, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
