Words of Comfort, Hope and JoySample

The Book of Psalms begins by contrasting the nature and fate of the righteous and the wicked (Psalm 1). Psalm 37 also maintains this focus, contrasting the lives of the godly and ungodly.
While the ungodly may sometimes be better off than the godly, the godly should not worry about their material well-being. “Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers!” (Psalms 37:1, ESV). Material wealth is not a measure of a person’s standing with God. It will eventually fade away. “For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb” (Psalms 37:2, ESV).
Although they may face lows at times, the reward for those who lead godly lives is a steady flow of God’s grace throughout their lives, extending to their descendants.
The Psalmist asserts that his life exemplifies this truth: that the Lord’s favor for his people is unchanging. He is an older man who has observed life over a long period. He has never seen a person devoted to the Lord “forsaken.” He also adds that throughout his life, he has never encountered a godly individual whose descendants became so impoverished that they had to beg for food.
While the wealth accumulated by the ungodly will fade over time, the Lord’s favor upon the godly endures as long as they and their descendants remain faithful to him.
Even when challenges arise for Christ-followers, they should remember that the Lord’s grace remains enough and constant, transforming everything into a blessing in its own time. We can place our trust in the Lord for you and your children.
Choose to trust God’s provision for both you and your family, regardless of material circumstances. Take a step this week to show generosity to someone in need—whether through a kind word, a supportive act, or sharing resources—demonstrating faith in God’s promise that His grace sustains and blesses.
