Acts 25:13-27 | Paul on TrialSample

Something More in Acts 25
This 5-day plan continues a journey through the book of Acts. Since Acts 9, we’ve been tracking how God has been working through Paul, perhaps God’s most unexpected witness.
This week, we pick up in the back half of Acts 25. At first read, it seems like an unimportant pause in the action. A brief exchange between some rulers over what to do with Paul and his case. Luke uses it, however, to draw out some important themes he’s been developing—making a case for Paul’s innocence, showing how the life of a Christian will mirror the life of Jesus, rooting the story of these first disciples firmly in history, and drawing us in to the spiritual discipline (and spiritual challenge!) of waiting on the Lord.
Today, read the story (we’ll go back to the beginning of Acts 25 to grab the context). Try to pick up on these themes. Which of them most closely connects with you?

About this Plan

The powers that be are gathering to decide Paul’s fate. Will he seek to gain their favor, or risk himself for Christ? This 5-day plan continues a journey through the book of Acts, the Bible’s gripping sequel of Jesus at work in the life of his followers as he expands his kingdom to the ends of the earth. It’s a journey on what it means to be a Christian. It’s a story in which you have a role to play.
