Proverbs 4 & Luke 6 - Guard Your Heart
Reading the Bible changed my life. I mean, literally.
And that's what these verses from Proverbs 4 are trying to say: keep the Word in front of your eyes, let it penetrate deep into your heart. Meaning, read your Bible daily. Why?
Verse 22 gives the answer, "For they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body." (NLT)
They give life and healing to your body! Isn't that amazing? That explains why we at Project of Love, almost on a daily basis, receive testimonies from people all over the world who have been healed after listening and singing along (and believing these words) with our songs and videos.
And while it never ceases to amaze us, we shouldn't be all that surprised. It says here these words of God bring healing to your body. 🔥
Now verse 23 brings it home:
"Guard your heart, for it is the source of life and everything you do flows from it." (CSB, NIV)
This is so powerful! Jesus in Luke 6:45 says the same thing: "What you say flows from what is in your heart." (NLT)
In my previous rock-n-roll life, I met a producer who used to say, "If you put crap in, you can't expect gold to come out." I think that sums it up pretty nicely. :-)
Your heart is like a garden. It needs to be cultivated. Not just once, but every day. Because good ground doesn't just happen, it has to be cultivated. Pull the weeds, remove the rocks, scare off the crows.
Now all of that goes a lot faster if you guard your heart (tend your garden), because nothing gets inside of you without your approval.
Jesus says in Luke 6:44 that every tree is known by its fruit. What you say and do will always reflect the condition of your heart.
Do you want to get a healthy heart? Crack open your Bible every day, let the Word penetrate you and change YOU. Not your neighbor, but you.
And you'll find that the Word is like a fine comb, combing through your mind, heart, and soul every day. Leaving a fruitful ground for the Word to grow in. And if you take good care of your garden, it will blossom! ❤️
