Sufficient Grace for Daily GrindSample

Holy Spirit Pours Out God’s Love
In an upper room in Jerusalem, Jesus gathered with His disciples. These were His last moments together with them during His earthly life before He would soon return to the Father.
If we were about to leave, we’d make sure to give important messages and instructions, wouldn’t we?
At that very moment, Jesus gave them a parting message that He would send another Helper who would continue His work and always be with them.
Perhaps the moment described might seem less impactful for us because we have never physically experienced living with Jesus on earth.
Nevertheless, just imagine for a moment.
If we were one of Jesus’ disciples at that time, we would have left everything and followed Him every day wherever He went. We would have been with Jesus sleeping, eating, joking, and laughing together. We would have witnessed His miracles and all the deeds and teachings He performed.
And then suddenly, He said that He would leave us.
Wow, that must be too much to swallow, right?
We had been so accustomed to His presence on this Earth.
How could He just leave us like that?
Yet Jesus explained that His departure was necessary so that He could send the Holy Spirit to us. The Helper He sent would always be present as He was—a Comforter as familiar and close as the Lord Jesus.
Now, we can realize just how crucial this Helper that the Lord Jesus sent is!
And for us now, although we never lived physically with Jesus, He gave us the Holy Spirit so that we could live our lives together with Him, so our lives would be like those of His disciples who once lived, sat, ate, and chatted with Him!
Can you guess what the Holy Spirit would say to us often?
The first appearance of the word ‘Holy Spirit’ in the book of Romans appears in Romans 5:5, which says: “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
The Holy Spirit pours out (and reminds us of) God’s love.
'All this because the Lord cares about you'
'Because God loves you...'
'Just because He loves you'
That’s what He whispers in our hearts continuously.
Can you hear it?
In Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14-19, he prays that we might be strengthened with the explosive power through the Holy Spirit so that by faith Christ may dwell in our hearts – that we may be firmly rooted in Love and may understand how wide, long, high, and deep is the love of Christ.
Of course, we will never truly comprehend, never fully fathom, and never be able to measure it because Love surpasses all knowledge and understanding.
Will you kneel today and pray like Paul and ask for the mighty power of the Holy Spirit to bring us into the Immeasurable dimension of Christ's love?
