Family Advent Devotional - the Hope of ChristmasSample

Activity (Optional)
Make some paper crowns that fit your head. Decorate with stickers, jewels, hearts, and stars.
Devotional
Have you ever seen a king in a movie or a book? They usually wear fancy clothes and a shiny crown, and they live in a big castle. They make rules and lead their people. The Bible tells us that Jesus is our King but he’s a different kind of king. He wasn’t born in a palace, but in a stable. He didn’t wear a golden crown at first; he wore love and kindness wherever he went. He didn’t come to be served, but to serve others.
Some people in Jesus’ day found it difficult to believe he was their promised King. He didn’t charge in and act like he owned the place (even though he does!). Even though he came in a humble way, Jesus is still the greatest king of all. He is the King of Heaven and Earth. He rules with love, peace, and truth.
