30 Days to Confident Faith

DAY 3 OF 30

Devotional:
Lions don’t apologize for their roar. They don’t shrink back when danger comes; they move with the authority of who they are. Proverbs 28:1 paints this exact picture—those walking in unrighteousness are consumed by fear, but those rooted in God’s righteousness have a confidence that nothing can shake. This boldness isn’t about personality or being naturally fearless; it’s about knowing who stands with you.

This verse became real to me one terrifying night in 2017 when Hurricane Harvey’s floodwaters surrounded my home. My son was only two months old. Around 2 a.m., I looked outside and saw water rising quickly, filling the fields, and pressing against the bedroom window. My heart pounded, my hands were sweaty, and fear’s whispers grew loud:“What if we don’t make it? What if this is it?”

I stood there, frozen for a moment, looking at my peacefully sleeping baby, and whispered a desperate prayer:“God, remind me who I am in You. Give me peace to move swiftly in Your name.”Instantly, His peace washed over me like a warm blanket. I moved quickly but calmly. I strapped on my baby carrier, nestled my son against my chest, and packed a small backpack with baby essentials. As water began seeping into the house, I walked out to the living room where my family gathered, and we waited together for rescue.

Even as chaos swirled outside, God’s voice was louder:“All will be well.” And He was right. Rescue crews arrived, and we were carried to safety. That night taught me that boldness doesn’t always roar; sometimes, it’s a quiet, supernatural courage that comes only from knowing God is with you.

Being bold as a lion isn’t about the absence of fear; it’s about the presence of God. His Spirit gives us the strength to stand firm, move wisely, and remain calm—even when fear says we should panic. The same God who calmed me that night is the same God who will give you courage today.

Thought to Ponder:
What situation in my life right now requires quiet courage and bold trust in God’s promises?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the boldness that comes from being Your child. Help me to stand firm in moments of fear, to trust Your promises, and to move forward with quiet courage. Fill me with the assurance that You are always with me, even in the storm. Amen.
