Prayers for Peace of Mind: Help for Anxiety, Worry, or StressSample

When Worries Keep Piling Up
Sometimes we put pressure on ourselves to just “cast our cares on God” and then feel like spiritual failures when our worries come back again.
But Peter, a fisherman, would have known casting is repetitive. He didn’t just cast his net once; he did it over and over again. We may need to do the same.
Releasing our cares isn’t a one time event. It’s a lifelong process. We can come to the shore of God’s faithful love as often as we need.
We are always welcome to give Him whatever weighs us down so that we can continue our journey with freer, lighter hearts.
God isn't asking us to pretend we're okay; He's inviting us to come to Him as we are. He isn't putting pressure on us to paste a smile on our face;
He's with us in our pain. He doesn't expect us to hold everything inside; He understands all of our emotions because He created them.
Yes, we can love God by thanking Him in the happy times of life. But we can also love Him by saying, “I’m having a really hard time right now.”
God is bigger, wiser, and more compassionate than we can comprehend. We can bring all of what we feel to Him. He can take it again and again, and He’s with us in it always.
To cast our cares means more than just a tentative letting go—it’s a hurling, tossing, complete release. This is the offer of God: to come to Him as we are and to let Him take our anxieties fully and completely, as often as we need.
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
God, I’m grateful for the invitation to cast my cares on You. None of them are too big or too small. Help me release them all to You. Amen.
