Turn Your Eyes: Chapel Sessions Vol 2. Devotional From Gateway Worship

DAY 1 OF 8

Created to Worship

“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” –Revelation 4:11 (NLT)

When an artist works with clay, every movement is intentional. What starts as a simple lump becomes something purposeful—a vessel, a sculpture, a work of art. Nothing in the artist’s process is random. Every shape, curve, and design is formed with a vision in mind. In the same way, God is the Artist, and we are His creation. He formed each of us with intention and purpose. And central to that purpose is worship. You weren’t just created to exist; you were created to worship.

To worship is to give our attention, affection, and devotion to something or someone. Whether we recognize it or not, we’re always worshipping something because we’re always giving our focus to something. God’s intention for us has always been to direct that focus back to Him. He alone is worthy of our highest praise, and our hearts were designed to be most fulfilled in Him.

But life is full of distractions like busyness, stress, and striving that cause our attention to drift. We fix our eyes on things we think will satisfy—success, relationships, control, comfort. But these things never truly fill the longing in our souls. That longing points us back to the One we were made for.

It’s easy to believe that our own efforts or plans can fulfill us. But worship re-centers us by reminding us who we are and whose we are. It helps us trade anxiety for peace, striving for trust, and distraction for focus. You were shaped by the hands of the Creator with purpose. And that purpose is to worship Him with your whole life.

God’s invitation to worship isn’t about adding something else to your to-do list—it’s about bringing Him into every part of your life. As you move through this plan, ask Him to help you refocus. Set aside regular time to worship, pray, and reflect on His Word. Invite Him into your daily routines, your conversations, and your decisions. Our God is worthy to receive glory and honor and praise.

Prayer: Father, I’m so grateful today that in worship I can encounter Your presence and that in Your presence, anything is possible. Throughout these devotions, help me to encounter You over and over again as I give You what You are worthy of—my heart’s affection and my mind’s attention. In Jesus' name, Amen.
