Heart of Worship: 30 Days to Deeper PraiseSample

Hey fam, it’s Tyler Roberts from Red Rocks Worship, and I have the privilege of sharing with you today’s Scripture from Luke 4:8 (NIV).
“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’”
Have you ever found yourself stuck between two decisions? One, where you can choose yourself and build your own kingdom - or two, you can choose to humble yourself, follow God, and do it His way?
In Luke 4:7, there is a powerful moment of confrontation between Jesus and Satan. In the wilderness, a place of physical weakness and spiritual testing, Jesus finds Himself with a defining choice. Here, Jesus is offered the promise of all power, authority and splendor in exchange for bowing down and worshiping Satan. But Jesus doesn’t even hesitate! He immediately rebukes the enemy and anchors Himself in truth: worship belongs to God alone! Jesus’ response is more than a rejection of temptation—it is a declaration of ultimate allegiance. In the face of worldly power, influence, and comfort, Jesus reminds us what it means to live a life of true worship: loving God whole-heartedly and serving Him only. He models a heart fully devoted to the Father, one that cannot be swayed by feelings, shortcuts or earthly gain.
How often are we tempted in similar ways? Tempted to make choices opposite of God because of our feelings, need for approval, inclination to control, or desire for success? We may not be standing face to face with the devil himself, but the invitation to compromise is very real in our daily lives. When our hearts are pulled toward things that promise fulfillment apart from God, we’re faced with the same question today: Who will we worship?
True worship is not confined to a church service or a song—it’s actually a lifestyle of surrender, service, and devotion. It’s choosing to love God with our whole lives when no one else is watching, when it requires sacrifice, and when the world offers us an easier way. I love how Jesus responded so quickly to the enemy in Luke 4:8! He didn’t even entertain the offer before Him because He knew who He belonged to and where His allegiance remained.
His identity was rooted in being the beloved Son of the Father, and His hope was in the truth that the Father’s way is the “best way.” That same identity and hope has been given to us through Christ! We don’t have to fight for significance or settle for temporary kingdoms—we are already accepted, and already secure in Him. Therefore, we should “worship the Lord our God, and serve Him only.” We can put our complete trust in His Word and stand toe to toe with the enemy anytime we are tempted to choose the world’s way over God’s way. His way is better every single time!
So today, let this verse remind you: Only One is worthy. When compromise calls your name, when distraction and temptation try to take root, echo the words of Jesus - “Satan, get behind me!” Refuse to bow to anything less than the glory of God.
