Have you ever felt overlooked—like others couldn’t see your potential, even when you knew God had placed something special inside of you?

In AMERICAN UNDERDOG, Kurt Warner knows deep down that he is meant for something big: to play football in the NFL. But most of the people around him don’t see it. Coaches pass him over, recruiters don’t give him a chance, and at times, it seems like his dream is slipping away.

This echoes the story of David in 1 Samuel 16. When the prophet Samuel went to anoint the next king, David wasn’t even invited to the lineup. His own father didn’t see his potential. But God saw what no one else did. He saw the heart of a shepherd who would become king.

When others overlook us, God never does. He sees our true potential, our calling, and the gifts He has placed inside us—even when the world cannot. Like Kurt, we may face seasons of rejection, but we can hold on to the hope that God’s plan for us will not be missed. He delights in using the unexpected, the overlooked, and the underestimated for His glory.
