When You Wonder WhySample

Serving Like Jesus
Jesus came to earth on a mission to bring salvation to the world, but he still took time to care for the sick, feed the hungry and wash his disciples’ feet.
The Son of God came into the world not to be served but to serve and give his life for others. As his followers, we’re called to live out the example Jesus has set for us. Jesus said whoever wants to be great in the kingdom of heaven is called to be a servant to all.
Serving is a practical way to live out God’s love. First John 4:7 tells us that if we love one another, God’s love is in us.
There are a lot of different ways you can serve God and others. One practical way is to volunteer at your local church.
God gave us each different gifts and talents that the church and world around us need. Together, when we each use what God has gifted us with to serve others, our church thrives and God is glorified. What are you passionate about? How can you use those passions to serve others?
Do you need help identifying your giftings or how to use them? A great place to start is talking with your youth pastor or someone you trust about what your gifts are and where they might be used in your church or community.
Serving might also look like bringing a meal to someone in need, cleaning up your community, volunteering with a food pantry or simply spending time with someone in need of a friend.
How is God calling you to serve those around you?
