Worship More and Worry Less: 30 Days of Praise

DAY 12 OF 30

The Hebrew word we translate as “humility” is anavah. This word means more than the absence of pride or thinking lowly of yourself. It’s not self-abasement or throwing yourself under the rug. Anavah is rooted in a sense of responsibility, recognizing how your blessings pertain to your mission. David, the man after God’s own heart, was filled with anavah, humble purpose. He knew his place as He worshiped God. David was king. He did mighty things. Yet, David knew his place as God’s servant.

When we truly worship God, our hearts are humbled in this powerful, life-giving way. Anavah postures our hearts to be all God called us to be. In our scripture today, David prays a beautiful prayer to God, one of anavah, amazed that God chose him and his family.

Journal

Write a prayer of anavah praising the Lord with thankfulness and humility. Pray to be ready to serve Him however He leads.

About this Plan

Worship More and Worry Less: 30 Days of Praise

When worries won’t stop, and you can’t shake fear of what’s to come. When problem after problem bury your joy, and you find yourself asking, “Where is God?” you, my friend, sit in good company. You are not alone. Grab your coffee. Light a candle. A pen and journal are not essential, but they always deepen time with the Lord. This plan contains short journal prompts after the devotion and scripture reading. Worship invites the healing presence of the Lord. Come lay down your worries.
