30 Day Battle-Ready Challenge - Leadership for Christian MenSample

Day 20: Eyes Wide Open
Reflection: We can’t defend what we don’t see. And when it comes to God’s Word, we can’t apply what we don’t understand.
I’ve talked to many men who admit they struggle to understand the Bible or figure out how to apply it to their lives. Is that a legitimate excuse?
Short answer: No.
It’s easy to blame confusion or lack of understanding, but a battle-ready man knows this: it’s his responsibility to put in the work and pursue a deeper relationship with God every single day.
Often, the greatest threat isn’t outside—it’s our own spiritual blindness. The scary part? Unlike a physically blind person who knows they can’t see, we might be completely unaware of the truths we’re missing because we lack the desire to fully pursue God.
So, what’s the course correction? Two things:
- Spend more time in the Word.
- Pray for discernment.
Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. If you’re willing to put in the time, God will reveal things you never imagined. That’s what it means to live with your eyes wide open!
Mission: Understand His Word with a simple framework: simplify and apply. Ask God to show you what He wants you to understand—and how to turn that insight into action in your daily life.
Field Order: Expand your time in the Word by using multiple translations and trusted commentaries. God often uses the insights of others to reveal what we’ve been missing.
