Day 11: Under Authority

Reflection: Pride is a major headwind for many men. It often shows up in our reluctance to admit when we need help. Recently, I experienced this firsthand when I set out to build a playhouse for my kids.

In my mind, I had enough carpentry skills to handle the job. The design was based on the same style of playhouse my father built when I was a child, and I literally thought, “How hard could it be?”

As I progressed, reality hit. The framing was off, and those small inaccuracies snowballed into bigger problems. Eventually, in a humbling moment of surrender, I reached out to a local carpentry expert for help.

Within two days, the project was not only complete but looked exactly as I had envisioned. Reflecting on that, I realized how often the same thing happens in my spiritual life. I set out on my own, relying on my strength, without first submitting to God for direction.

Battle-ready warriors understand that true spiritual authority begins with submission. That often means admitting our deficiencies and placing full reliance on God.

Mission: Pride must be eliminated from our walk. Take time to reflect on who God has placed in authority over you. Where have you been resisting that authority for far too long?

Field Order: Repent of the areas where you’ve been disobedient and confess them to God today. Then, take action to course-correct. Remember: submission is not weakness—it’s strength under orders.
