Day 8 – Love is not provoked

Generally speaking, almost everybody has their likes and dislikes. Therefore, it is essential to know how to relate well with others. However, the Bible states in 1 Corinthians 13:5 that provocation isn’t one of the characteristics of God’s love. Other versions, such as the NIV, say, “love is not easily angered.” That implies that to learn how to control your anger, you need to grow in love.

Being angry is not a sin. However, it is what you do when angry that needs to be considered. When you’re angry, you give the devil a foothold, and if you don’t exercise self-control, you can do so many regrettable things. People have lost great relationships, friends, and even family members because they couldn’t control themselves when provoked.

Anger therapy is good. However, what will provide a permanent solution is walking in love. When you walk in love, you’ll be gracious to people for their mistakes. Be patient with others, because no one is perfect.
