Awakening Faith: Hope From the Global Church

DAY 5 OF 30

Resilient Faith in a Secular Age

It wasn’t a stadium crusade. There were no microphones, no lights, no crowds. Just a handful of college students meeting in a quiet corner of a café in Europe. They opened worn Bibles, whispered prayers, and wrestled with questions about faith in a culture that told them Christianity was outdated, irrelevant, even foolish.

What struck me was their fire more than their size. These young believers weren’t angry, defensive, or hiding. They were gentle, thoughtful, and yet unshakably convinced that Jesus is alive.

That’s resilience. Not shouting down the skeptics, but shining with a hope so compelling that questions are welcomed, and Christ is honored. In places where the church has been pushed to the margins, believers are discovering again what Peter wrote long ago: “Always be prepared to give an answer… but do this with gentleness and respect.”

Their faith doesn’t look nostalgic. It looks alive. And it makes me ask: in a culture where many see Christianity as irrelevant, is my faith compelling? Does my life cause anyone to ask why I have hope?

Resilient faith in a secular age is not about winning arguments. Instead, it’s about bearing witness to Jesus with joy, courage, and humility.

About this Plan

Awakening Faith: Hope From the Global Church

The church is alive and moving—in places of persecution, regions of explosive growth, and cultures where faith seems forgotten. This 30-day devotional invites you to journey with believers around the world who courageously follow Christ. Through Scripture and powerful stories, you’ll be inspired by their faith, challenged in your walk, and encouraged to join God’s global mission. The story of the church is still being written—and you are part of it.
