Be FruitfulSample

THE FRUITS OF CREATION
From the very beginning of the book of Genesis, we see that God desires all His creation to be fruitful. It begins by speaking of the vegetation and the way it was to bear fruit: “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth.”
The call to be fruitful is not merely about multiplying in any way, but it follows an order and a design: “after their kind.”
In the book of James, this same truth is affirmed: “My brethren, can a fig tree bear olives, or a vine bear figs?”
Later, God also creates the animals and commands them to multiply—to fill the seas and the earth. The whole world is now filled with vegetation and animals, each multiplying according to the order He established, within the environment God Himself prepared.
We ought to be grateful for the privilege of beholding such a diversity of plants and animals, and for witnessing how they continue to carry out the command God gave them: to multiply, to fill the earth, to be fruitful.
Question for reflection:
Can you imagine a world where plants and animals ceased to multiply, a world where they no longer bore fruit?
