Dear Church, Truth in Love

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Dear Church, More Are With Us Than Against Us

One of my favorite Bible stories is in 2 Kings 6. Elisha and his servant wake up to find their city surrounded by an enemy army. Naturally, the servant panics. But Elisha prays, and suddenly the servant’s eyes are opened to see chariots of fire—God’s army—surrounding them.

Then comes the reminder that many of us have become familiar with: “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

That’s a word we need right now. If you turn on the news, it feels like division is winning. Harsh words, loud arguments, and constant headlines that pit people and groups against each other. And if we’re honest, it leaves us with two temptations: fight back in anger or retreat into silence.

But what if there is another option? The Jesus option. We can choose reconciliation. We can choose to speak truth, extend grace, and model restoration according to 2 Corinthians 5:18–20.

And when we do, remember this: we are not alone. Even if you feel like the only one in your church, workplace, or family who’s choosing this path, know that heaven is backing you.

Prayer:
Lord, the world feels so loud with opinions. Quiet my heart to hear Your voice. Give me wisdom to know when to stay silent and courage to know when to speak. Use me as a vessel of Your reconciliation. Amen.

About this Plan

Dear Church, Truth in Love

In every generation, the Church has faced defining challenges. Today, one of the most urgent is diversity and reconciliation—how we see one another, how we work together, and how we live as the body of Christ in a politically-charged and divided world. Dear Church offers five days of encouragement for leaders, written in the spirit of Paul’s letters: direct, heartfelt, and timely. Through truth-telling, courage, hard work, and rest, this plan invites you to reflect and act so the Church can reflect the unity of heaven here on earth.
