All Things TogetherSample

Day 5
THE CONTINUING ON
For years now, I have been practicing the apprenticeship of Jesus and love to tell of the marvels it has revealed. I have looked upon the smiling face of my heavenly Father. I have looked upon His goodness in the land of the living—in the sound of children running through the house in play, in disinfected hospital rooms and labored last words. I have looked upon His goodness at gravesides and wedding altars, and in an unexpected life of shepherding a people. I have looked upon His goodness in quiet places, and heard it in the ringing laughter of friends around dining room tables.
I don’t know where you are on your life’s journey, but wherever this finds you, I pray the thoughts and scriptures we have shared over the last five days will come together and catch some heavenly slant of light, that you would see a glimpse of a smiling Father’s love for you. May some glimmering of His divine delight meet you where you are. I trust that, even now, He is about His unhurried work of de-fragmenting you, re-forming you, inviting you further into the wholeness of who you are to be.
Take heart. God is on the move, making wrecked things new and healing wonder-blind eyes. Jesus, the “luminary Nazarene,” as Einstein once called Him, “is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17, ESV). And so, whatever may come our way, “All shall be well; and all manner of thing shall be well,” as Julian of Norwich famously said.
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, ESV)
How do you see God on the move in your life? How can you rest more securely in the assurance that he’s got your life in His hands?
