In the Mirror of Life: 31 Days of Identity, Purpose, and Gratitude

DAY 10 OF 31

A LIST OF GOD-GIVEN QUALITIES

Key Verse:
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14 (NIV)

Reflection:
Many times, we see our flaws clearly, yet struggle to recognize our own qualities. In In Search of Myself, we learn that writing down our virtues is an exercise that strengthens self-esteem. In In the Mirror of Life, we discover that the mirror of the soul should also reflect the beauty we carry within.

In psychology, acknowledging one’s strengths activates positive emotions and regulates self-concept. In psychoanalysis, it is an act of internal repair, as the “self” learns to value itself without relying on external approval. From a systemic perspective, it is honoring the life received, recognizing that each trait is a gift flowing from family history. The Word reminds us: we were wonderfully made — and none of it is by chance.

Additional Verses:

  • “Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.” — Isaiah 43:4 (NIV)
  • “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)

Systemic Reflection Phrase:
“When I recognize my qualities, I do not diminish anyone — I simply honor what God has already planted in me.”

Practical Challenge:
Make a list of at least seven qualities or talents you possess (e.g., perseverance, generosity, courage, creativity). Each day this week, choose one and practice it intentionally.

Therapeutic Technique:
Practice the affirmative writing exercise: write on paper three times the phrase, “I am wonderfully made, and I have qualities that reflect God’s beauty in me.” Read it aloud.

Prayer:
Father, thank You because I was not created by accident. Open my eyes so I may see my virtues and gifts as reflections of Your love. Teach me to value what You have already placed within me and to use my qualities to serve and bless others. Amen.
