DAY 31 OF 60

Romans 8
The Power of Surrendered Living

What does it look like to live as someone who is truly one with Christ?

Romans 8 tells us the Spirit of God doesn’t just visit us—He dwells in us. That indwelling changes everything. No longer do we live by our own effort. We live by His strength.

A.W. Tozer said that it is “not a life of works or striving but one of joyful surrender.” He described it as the soul’s endless pursuit of God—not because we lack Him, but because He has placed that desire in us. Andrew Murray echoed this, teaching that our cooperation with God must come through complete dependence. Even the ability to abide comes from Him.

Smith Wigglesworth reminded us that “You must come to see how wonderful you are in God and how helpless you are in yourself.” It’s not about self-confidence. It’s about God-dependence. It’s about emptying ourselves so we can be filled.

Kathryn Kuhlman said the turning point of her ministry was this: “I died.” She stopped striving. She let go. She allowed the Holy Spirit to take full control. And in that moment of surrender, power flowed. Not from her talent or charisma—but from complete yieldedness.

Paul writes that those God justified, He also glorified. This is your story: justified, filled, glorified—not later, but now. This is what it means to live in the Spirit. Not reaching for more, but releasing everything.

About this Plan

Romans

Romans is more than a letter of personal salvation—it is a sweeping vision of God’s faithfulness. Paul retells Israel’s story, showing how God’s saving righteousness is revealed in Jesus, uniting Jew and Gentile, and forming a Spirit-filled family. This plan journeys through Romans as Paul unfolds the gospel of God’s new creation, calling believers to live as one people of faith, hope, and love.
