Open HandedSample

As Christians, we know God calls us to live life open-handedly. In other words, we’re called to give generously out of all God has given to us. Not for our own sake, but for the sake of others, and most importantly, for the sake of sharing God’s goodness with those around us. If that sounds challenging, that’s because, without the help and guidance of God’s Spirit, it is! The good news? God didn’t leave us to figure out what a generous life looks like without help. In fact, God gave us more than just the Holy Spirit to help here. He gave us Jesus—the very model of true sacrifice and generous giving. Jesus’ entire existence—His life, His ministry, His death, and His resurrection—is a master class on generosity. His love for us motivated Him to give the ultimate gift: to lay down His life to restore our relationship with God. When we’re not sure how to give, where to give, or if we have anything to give, we can look back to Jesus’ example to guide us.
