When God Makes Things Right: A 5-Day Devotional on NahumSample

Have you ever felt the pressure to fit in? The desire to have new clothes, popular friends, and a lot of likes on your recent post can be overwhelming. However, we see God call His people to live a life that is set apart, holy.
The last part of Nahum shows us the final defeat of Nineveh. Even though they thought they were strong and unstoppable, they couldn’t stand against God’s holiness. Nahum reminds us that God’s justice is part of His holiness — because He is holy, He cannot ignore sin. For us, this is both a warning and an encouragement. It’s a warning not to take God lightly. But it’s also encouragement, because God’s holiness means He is completely pure, trustworthy, and perfect.
Through Jesus, we are called to live holy lives too — set apart for Him, different from the world. Holiness isn’t about being perfect on our own, but about letting God change us to look more like Jesus.
Christ Connection
We can see in 1 Peter 1:15-16 that Jesus is the Holy One who calls us to holiness.
Ask
What area of my life do I need to surrender to Jesus?
Pray
Jesus, thank You that You are holy and perfect in every way. Help me to respect Your holiness and not take Your grace for granted. Teach me to live in a way that honors You — in how I speak, what I watch, how I treat others, and how I use my time. Thank You for giving me Your Spirit to help me grow in holiness. Shape me to look more like You each day, and give me the courage to live differently in a world that doesn’t always honor You.
Try This
Write 1 Peter 1:15-16 on a notecard and place it on your mirror, in your locker, or car. Let it be a reminder of God’s call to look more like Jesus in your life.

About this Plan

Life isn’t always fair — but God is. In the book of Nahum, God promises His people that He will deal with evil, bring justice, and restore hope. This 5-day plan will walk you through God’s justice, mercy, and holiness, and show how Jesus makes a way for us to live with peace instead of fear. If you’ve ever wondered whether God sees the wrongs in the world, Nahum is a powerful reminder that He does, and He makes all things right.
